David graduated from the University of Canterbury in 1973.
He was first employed in Christchurch for 3 years, practising mainly in litigation. On his return from overseas travel, he joined Welsh McCarthy in 1980, becoming a partner in 1982.
David's primary areas of law are rural (buying and selling of farms, leases etc), relationship property, trusts, commercial and conveyancing. He has prior extensive experience in family law and Lawyer for Child appointments.
David is currently the President of the Taranaki District Law Society and a Council member of the New Zealand Law Society.
David is married to Jo and has three daughters.
His outside interests include rugby, skiing and all aspects of wine, from growing to consumption.
